Study: pandemic has dramatically reduced the number of new entrepreneurs in Russia
Registrations of new individual entrepreneurs (IP) in Russia for the first half of 2020 decreased by about a third due to the pandemic, estimated the company-developer of information systems Seldon.
"The number of registrations of new entrepreneurs in Russia for the first six months of 2020 has declined by 34.4% compared to the same period of 2019 and made up of 287, 5 thousand. The worst months were the months of April and may, and then the figure showed a rebound," - said in the study, at the disposal of RIA Novosti.
"The number of registrations of new organizations, according to Seldon.News, from January to June 2020 fell by 31.9% compared to the same period last year to 106.9 thousand. The most severe began in April and may, where the drop rate was respectively -66,5% and -47,9% vs. levels of the same months in 2019," - said Seldon.
In June, the economy showed recovery, whereby the number of registrations of new companies resumed growth. But while this figure still lags behind last year's 23%.
In the regional aspect most affected Moscow, Moscow region and St. Petersburg, where the fall in the number of registrations of new companies for the half year accounted for 43.8-48.5 per cent, and the Pskov region (minus 56.5 percent). Where, on the contrary, growth is the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Republic of Buryatia and Ingushetia. But as far as IP – no region in the first half showed growth of registrations.
It is noteworthy that the number of registrations decreased and the number of companies that terminated their activities - by 18.3% to 8.3 thousand closed organizations. Almost the same percentage decreased and the number of the closed SP and made 303,8 thousand.
