The head of the US Senate Committee for international Affairs Jim Risch called on the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to resign if his re-election would be undemocratic.

"Mr. Lukashenko must allow a genuine tabulation of yesterday's vote to leave if, as reported, he was not re-elected in a democratic way. He also needs to immediately stop the suppression of the media, off the Internet, arrests and violence against those who seek no other way for Belarus. The peaceful transfer of power is vital for the future of Belarus and its sovereignty," - said in a written statement Risha.

In Sunday have passed elections of the President of Belarus. According to the CEC, Lukashenko is gaining 80,08%, in second place Svetlana Tikhanovski from 10.09%. In the headquarters of Svetlana Tikhanovski stated that it did not recognize the results of the CEC, noting that data from sites in all districts of the Republic show that she scored 70-80%.
