Rogozin instructed to develop the analog of the "Buran" to replace the "Soyuz"
The General Director of "Rosatom" Dmitry Rogozin instructed to develop options for a winged, manned space Shuttle similar to the Soviet "Buran" to replace the "Soyuz MS". He told this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
At the same time, Rogozin admitted that the creation of a reusable vehicle will take much time. Soyuz MS, of course, still serve. He constantly modernizarea", - said the head of "Roscosmos", noting however that the endless modernization "is detrimental to the development of space technology".
Earlier Rogozin has already said that Roskosmos is considering creating a winged manned spacecraft that will fly to orbital stations.
This is not the first experience of development in our country of the winged spacecraft. In the Soviet Union was created a winged space Shuttle Buran, which made one unmanned flight in 1988. In Russia at the beginning of 2000-ies has developed a cruise ship "clipper".
The development of a new Russian spacecraft "eagle" (formerly known as "Federation") for missions to the moon is from 2009. The first test launch of the unmanned variant was listed in the plans for 2015 and the first manned flight was planned for 2018. But then the plans changed.
As reported, RSC "Energia" leads the production of the first two copies of the ship "eagle": the first will be a full-scale mockup for testing when you first start "Angara-A5" in 2023, and "Yenisei" in 2028, and the second is a full - fledged reusable spacecraft (10 flights) for flight testing and subsequent operation.
