Kravchuk called elections in the Donbass

Elections in Donbass require compliance with several conditions, including control of the Kiev on the state border with Russia, said Friday the ex-President of Ukraine, the new head of the delegation of Kiev in the contact group on settling the situation in the Donbass Leonid Kravchuk.

Earlier, the former President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma stopped work in the contact group. On Thursday the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree which authorized the Kravchuk delegation to represent Kiev in the group.

Earlier Zelensky said that insists on the transfer of the Ukrainian military control over the border with Russia to the holding of elections in the Donbass. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Minsk agreements provide for the first elections, and then the decision on the border. He also said that if the Ukrainian military will stand on the border, surrounding the DNI and the LC, "can start Srebrenica", since Zelensky is unlikely to be able to cope with the nationalists.

On Monday in Donbass came into effect extra measures to ensure ceasefire.
