The Embassy protested the desecration of a monument to Rokossovsky to Poland

The Russian Embassy will require the Polish authorities to find and punish the perpetrators of vandalism against the monument to Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky, told RIA Novosti the Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreev.

Earlier it was reported that the sculpture of the Soviet and Polish Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky was abducted memorial cemetery in Legnica in Western Poland. The sculpture was part of the open Museum, located in the cemetery of the red army. Later, a headless sculpture was found on a street in Legnica.

"We will send a letter to the Polish authorities – to the Ministry of culture, which are responsible for the memorial policy, and a copy to the Ministry of foreign Affairs. We Express their outrage, strong protest and appeal to the Polish authorities to find the culprits and punish", - said the Ambassador.

According to him, this year such acts of vandalism against Soviet monuments were about ten, as usually happens on military graves.

"Unfortunately, this practice continues. We directly associate it with the atmosphere, which is pumped in Polish society – an atmosphere of confrontation against Russia, the rewriting of history, the negation of the liberation mission of the red army, attempts to impose on the Soviet Union equals Nazi Germany responsibility for the outbreak of the Second world war", - said the Agency interlocutor.
