"Izvestia": banks want to write off the money from "dormant accounts"

As explained by the publication in "Absolut Bank", which prepares the relevant document, we are talking about writing money for account maintenance and loan payments.

According to the current legislation, banks should update customer identification data (passport, judicial decisions, etc.) at least once a year. If the information is outdated, the Bank is obliged to contact the client, and to update the data, all transactions are suspended.

As a result, customers who could be contacted, piling up fines and penalties, and credit organizations do not receive amounts due to them and can't prevent fraud on "sleeping accounts".

The initiative was supported by UniCredit Bank, agricultural Bank, and ROSBANK. The Central Bank said that while to him such document has not been received.
