Kravchuk stated willingness to compromise on Donbas

The first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, who led the delegation on the eve of Kiev on the negotiations of the contact group on the Donbas, said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine about the readiness to compromise in conflict resolution.

"Mission one is to end the war to Ukraine was peace, that we may live peaceful: no blood, no horror, no loss, no damage. That's my mission remains to Donbass and Ukraine was the world. I'm going to do everything I can. Let's compromise..." - said Kravchuk, did not elaborate on what the compromise is about.

Regarding the special status of Donbass, the former President noted that he will advocate the transition from the General words into "concrete actions".

"That it was management that will benefit the people who live there, and people will feel that they are the masters of our own land," he said.

Earlier Kravchuk in an interview with "Apostrophe" said one of the compromises on Donbass can be to create in the region a free economic zone. However, he noted that the compromise on the Donbass can not touch the question of borders, sovereignty, loss of independence or the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Kiev in April 2014 began a military operation against the breakaway LC and the DNI, which declared independence after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN victims of the conflict were about 13 thousand people.

The settlement of the situation in the Donbass is discussed, in particular, during meetings in Minsk the contact group, which from September 2014 adopted three documents regulating the steps to de-escalate the conflict. However, after the armistice agreements between the parties to the conflict continue shooting. On Monday in Donbass came into effect extra measures to ensure ceasefire.
