Fund: the wizard will paint hundreds of square meters of the Cathedral in Chersonesos

Specialists in the framework of large-scale restoration will paint from 600 to 880 meters vault of the lower Church of St. Vladimir Cathedral in Chersonesos, reported Wednesday RIA Novosti the head of the press service of the Foundation "My story" Alexander Tarasov.

The Foundation "My story" holds the accomplishment of the Museum-reserve "Chersonese" in 2017. According to the Foundation, the facility is already renovated the lower Church St. John the Baptist, prepared for painting the ceiling vaults, set the font and candle holders made of natural stone, adjacent to the temple area built outdoor cinema and also announced the permanent utilities.

"The lower arch of the temple premises will be covered with polychrome paintings. The square painting is from 600 to 880 square meters", - said Tarasov.

According to him, the final proposals for the conservation, preservation or restoration of the Cathedral will be offered after the re-survey in September, but now will be presented the project of painting of the lower Church.

"Now there is a search for artistic forms appropriate to the style of the Cathedral, and harmonious color schemes that will violate the laid David Grimm (architect of the Cathedral – ed.) and architectural spatial solutions and help create a festive feeling among all participants of the Liturgy" - summed up the representative of the Fund.

St. Vladimir's Cathedral in Chersonesos Tauride (Crimea), erected in 1891 on the place where, presumably, in 988 was baptized Prince Vladimir, who baptized Rus later.
