A police officer saved a woman who had fallen into the water from the embankment of the Kryukov canal in St. Petersburg while trying to take a selfie, reports the press service of the regional interior Ministry.
"The actions of the police helped to save 37-year-old woman who had fallen into the water from the embankment when trying to make selfi", - stated in the message.
According to the press service, the district Commissioner of police Vyacheslav Zvyagin learned about falling in the canal the woman arrived at the quay and lowered a ladder nearby emergency services into the water. The woman began to sink because of the backpack. Then the policeman went down the stairs, pulled the woman to him and took off her backpack, and then pulled ashore.
The woman received medical treatment, her life and health is not in danger, said the police head office.
