Pompeo praised the ability of the US to contain Russia
The US decision on the withdrawal of almost 12 thousand troops from Germany and their relocation to other European countries to NATO will not affect the ability of the US to contain Russia, said US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.
"In those comments from Russia that I've seen says that they feel threatened by our action, because our soldiers will be deployed closer to Russia's borders," said Pompeo at the hearings in Congress.
"I am confident that our mission to deter Russia, NATO's mission to deter Russia, we are fully capable of doing it," she added.
Pentagon chief mark Esper announced that Germany will withdraw a total of almost 12 thousand military of the United States, most of which (6.4 thousand) will go home, and the rest will be deployed in NATO countries in Europe, including in Italy and Belgium. The headquarters of US forces in Europe is scheduled to move from Germany to the Belgian city of Mons. Now in Mons is the headquarters of the Supreme allied commander of NATO forces in Europe.
