The state Commission at the Baikonur cosmodrome gave the nod to the start of the carrier rocket "proton-M" with telecommunication satellite "Express-80" and "Express-103" the removal of which in orbit will take a record 18 hours, according to "Roskosmos".
"The state Commission made a decision about filling the carrier rocket "proton-M" propellants and confirmed start time", - stated in the message on the website of the Corporation.
Wednesday, Roskosmos, announced the launch of "Proton" from 30 to 31 July for additional inspections of components and assemblies. Later, the RIA Novosti source in the rocket and space industry said that the reason in the remark when checking the control system upper stage "breeze-M".
According to "Roskosmos", the start of a four-stage rocket "proton-M" is scheduled July 31 at 0.25 MSK 200-th site of Baikonur. It is expected that the upper stage "Briz-M" with the satellite "Express" to separate from the third stage of the rocket in 0.35 MSK on a suborbital trajectory. Further removal of spacecraft into the target orbit with a minimum height of 16.6 thousand kilometers and a maximum of 54,9 thousand kilometers must be secured at the expense of five engine burns "Breeze".
The Department "Express-80" from the upper stage is planned at 18.24 GMT, "Express-103" - at 18.41 Moscow time. Thus, it will be the longest flight in history "Proton" - around 18 hours and 16 minutes.
As missile capabilities do not allow to deliver satellites "Express" to the geostationary orbit (circular orbit with altitude of 35 786 km), then after separation of the "Breeze", "Express-80" will get to her 152 days using its own electric propulsion, and "Express-103" - 160 days.
According to the company "Space communications", the satellites planned to be operational in January-February 2021.
For the rocket "proton" this will be the first and only in 2020 start. It will also be the ninth space launch in Russia this year.
