The expert assessed the appointment of Kravchuk, head of the delegation of Kiev
Kiev, appointing ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, head of the delegation in the trilateral contact group, trying to find authoritative figure who would understand both sides, but for settlement in the Donbass necessary to the implementation of policy measures of the Minsk agreement, said the expert of the Center for political conjuncture Alexei Chesnakov.
Earlier ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk said that he agreed to lead a delegation to Kiev on the negotiations of the contact group on settling the situation in Donbass is another former President Leonid Kuchma.
"There is an attempt of finding people who understand the psychology of both parties to the conflict and Kiev, and the Donbass. And it would not make sweeping statements before," - said Chesnakov RIA Novosti.
He noted that despite the age of 86-year-old Kravchuk quite energetic, is in the Ukraine authority.
"But in any case, the figure of a man from the past, though acceptable from the point of view of political correctness, but hardly productive in terms of building a long-term strategy of engagement (Kiev and Donbass) in the future. Kuchma, Kravchuk - people of the past, it is unlikely that such people are able to build for the long term," - said the expert.
In his opinion, today we need to negotiate with a modern twist, "to not only offer settlement mechanisms, built on nostalgic hints and old experiences, but to design modern elements of coordination of interests between the Donbass and Kiev."
"I'm not sure that Kravchuk here is something different from Kuchma," - said the analyst.
In General, for the settlement of the conflict in Kiev Donbass need to take steps in the political sphere, envisaged by the Minsk agreements, the expert reminded.
"Without them the whole structure makes no sense. Kiev must demonstrate reliable and efficient algorithm implementation of the Minsk agreements. But Kiev is not even close to suitable for this task. And without the algorithm without understanding the road map for the implementation of the political point to all issues related to security, personnel decisions will hang in the air," - said Chesnakov.
