In Lebanon consider it important to promote industrial cooperation with Syria

The Ministry of industry of Lebanon and Syria must conduct direct negotiations for the development of food facilities and pharmaceuticals despite the full pressure of several countries, said in an interview with Syrian state TV channel "surija" the Minister of industry of Lebanon Imad Hoballah.

"The government and the Ministry of industry in particular considers areas of cooperation with Syria. We look forward to a direct meeting of the ministries of industry of Syria and Lebanon in the near future", - said the Minister.

The Lebanese Minister noted that the Lebanese side is counting on the development of joint SAR work in the field of food processing, textiles and pharmaceuticals.

According to Kaballah, in the Lebanese Ministry of industry look forward to the opportunity to meet with their Syrian counterparts, including the Minister of transport, to discuss the development of transit from Lebanon to Jordan and Iraq through Syria.

"The United States put pressure on everyone in Lebanon and beyond. And the purpose of this pressure is to attempt to force Lebanon to take a number of decisions in favor of Israel," the Minister said, answering the question, as they can affect U.S. sanctions on the development of relations between Syria and Lebanon.

At the end of 2019, the US President, Donald trump has signed a law that became known as "Caesar." It entered into force on 1 June and includes the sanctions, affecting virtually all sectors of the economy of Syria. The sanctions list was expanded on June 17, under the restriction got 14 people, including the wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, ASMA and his sister Bushra, and 21 organization.

Lebanese analysts and politicians have expressed concern that the law of "Caesar" may have on Lebanon more disastrous consequences than for Syria. On the background of the presence of more than 1.5 million refugees from Syria with a population of 4 million, the banking crisis and the lack of production scale, the new sanctions can create catastrophic problems for the Lebanese people, a decision that will take several years.
