Izvestia: FNPR called for increased unemployment benefits several times

The Federation of independent trade unions of Russia (FNPR) took the initiative to increase the minimum size of unemployment benefits several times, write "Izvestia" with reference to the letter of the Deputy Chairman of the FNPR David Crystal.

Appropriate treatment, according to the newspaper, was sent to the Russian tripartite Commission on regulation socially-labour relations.

In the FNPR believes that the minimum amount of the benefit shall be equal to the subsistence minimum of able-bodied population in the region for the second quarter of last year. While the maximum payout is set at the level of the average wage in a given subject.

The letter States that the payment must be at least half of lost earnings.

The Ministry of labour of Russia expressed readiness to consider a proposal to increase unemployment benefits, but stressed that the aid should not replace wages.

This year on the background of the situation with coronavirus, the government increased the allowances. At the moment the minimum payment on the unemployment rate in Russia is 4,5 thousand rubles per month (pandemic coronavirus was 1.5 thousand rubles) and the highest was 12.1 thousand rubles.

Earlier, the Ministry noted that the situation in the labour market remains difficult, but the increase in unemployment is slowing and the recovery in consumer demand will lead to the recovery of real incomes of the population.

According to Rosstat unemployment in Russia in June rose to 6.2% from 6.1% in may, the number of official unemployed persons was 2.8 million people.
