Russian specialists continue to actively cooperate with the Egyptian in the course of security checks of airports in the Egyptian resorts of Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada, but the restoration of air links depends on the situation with terrorism in the Sinai Peninsula, said in an interview TEN Russian Ambassador in Egypt Georgy Borisenko.

The diplomat recalled that flights to the Egyptian resorts were closed after the crash companies "Kogalymavia" in October 2015.

"However, our specialists work hand in hand with the Egyptian security services in order to ensure that the airports are Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada are fully complied with all security measures that provide an absolutely safe departure and arrival of aircraft," - said the diplomat.

The Ambassador recalled that in the Sinai Peninsula, Egyptian security forces continue anti-terrorist operation.

"We hope that in some foreseeable time frame manage these (Charter - ed.) flight to recover, although, again, it all depends on the situation of terrorism," the Ambassador said.

According to the diplomat, in connection with the improvement of coronavirus in Egypt may restore direct flights between Moscow and Cairo.

Borysenko noted that in previous years, Egypt was visited by more than 3 million Russian tourists.

The largest in the history of Russian and Soviet aviation accident occurred October 31, 2015: Airbus A321 airline "Kogalymavia" carrying out flight Sharm El Sheikh - Saint Petersburg, was wrecked on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. Onboard there were 217 passengers and seven crew members, they all died.

The FSB subsequently acknowledged the incident a terrorist attack. Direct flights between the two countries in the fall of 2015 was suspended and resumed only in April of 2018, after the Egyptian airports at the request of Russia radically increased security measures.
