The fed chief said the prospects of US economic recovery uncertain

The U.S. economy will need the support of Congress and the Federal reserve system (FRS) for an indefinite period, said the fed's Jerome Powell.

"The way forward will also depend on political action at all levels of government, to support recovery (of the economy) for as much time as necessary," said Powell at a press conference.

According to him, it is still unclear how significant and stable recovery of economic growth - this will depend on the situation of coronavirus.

"Full recovery is unlikely, yet people will not feel confident that they can safely engage in a wide range of activities," said Powell.

"We intend to use the full range of tools at our disposal to support the economy", - said the head of the fed.

He reiterated that in favor of continued support of the taxpayers but stressed that it is primarily engaged in the Congress. The fed for its part ensures the liquidity of the markets set a record low rate and introduced an ambitious program of lending business, including guarantees for corporate debt.

The US leads the world in the number of cases of coronavirus (over 4.3 million) and the number of deaths (about 150 thousand). Congress is discussing a new package to support the economy of at least $ 1 trillion in addition to the already spent for these purposes about 3 trillion dollars.
