The expert explained why airlines sell tickets in closed countries

A number of airlines sells tickets not yet open for flying from Russia to foreign countries to generate revenues that support them in a difficult period, and if the flights on the date ticket sales will not open carriers should offer the passenger a refund or rescheduling the flight, told RIA Novosti expert in the field of aviation, the Executive Director of the Agency "AviaPort" Oleg Panteleev.

On Friday, July 24, Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova said that Russia from August 1, will resume its flights from three countries: UK, Turkey, and Tanzania. However, a number of airlines already selling tickets to countries that are not yet permitted to fly.

"Today, a number of airlines sells tickets for international flights, including destinations, flights which are not yet confirmed. This allows carriers to receive revenue, supporting them in hard times. In the case that the flights will not be allowed on the dates on which the tickets sold, the airline must offer passengers either a refund or rescheduling the flight," - said Panteleyev.

"I think airlines will be able to fulfill its obligation to return "live" money in a force majeure situation. But it is worth Recalling that a government decree legalizing the unilateral refusal of the airlines to meet their obligations, does not apply to tickets purchased now," he continued.

The expert noted that, in addition, passengers paying with debit / credit cards, you can use the procedure of chargeback.
