The area of forest fires in Ugra in 2020 exceeded 40 thousand hectares

The total area of forest fires in 2020 in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous area exceeded 40 thousand hectares, which is 10 times higher than a year earlier, according to the Department of subsoil use and natural resources in the region.

According to the Agency, on Wednesday morning, the region has 30 forest fires on the area of 11,3 thousand hectares.

"Since the beginning of the fire season in Autonomous district was 339 forest fires with a total area of 40.3 thousand hectares. For comparison, in 2019 on this date in the region's forests occurred 172 fire area of 3.8 thousand hectares," - said in the message.

According to the Department, in most cases the causes of forest fires are lightning discharges, only 20 fires occurred due to violations of the people rules security.

Previously, the region was visited by the head EMERCOM of Russia Evgeny Senichev and the head of the Ministry Dmitry Kobylkin. They, in particular, overflew the Soviet district, where the situation with wildfires was the most difficult. So, Senichev urged tougher to treat violators of fire safety requirements, and Kobylkin noted that the situation in Yugra "difficult but manageable".

The Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova in mid-July introduced a state of emergency of regional character in the woods of the Autonomous Okrug. Later she stressed that the involvement of forces and means of the Federal center or from other regions of the Russian Federation for fighting forest fires in Ugra is not required.
