Operator "Nord stream – 2" challenged the court decision on the Gas Directive

Operator "Nord stream – 2", 2 Nord Stream AG, has filed an appeal against the decision of the Court of General jurisdiction of the EU in respect of the claim of the company against the Gas Directive of the European Union, told reporters in Nord Stream AG, 2.

"Nord Stream AG 2 does not share the court's reasoning regarding procedural matters and continues to believe that amendments to the Gas Directive is unlawful discrimination. In this regard, on 28 July 2020 Nord Stream 2 has filed an appeal against the decision of the Court of General jurisdiction of the EU to the European court (the Court of Justice of the EU) (the EU Court in Luxembourg - ed.)", - stated in the release.

The court of General jurisdiction of the European Union in may rejected the claim of Nord Stream AG against 2 amendments to the Gas Directive, the European legislation on pipelines from third countries. The operator noted that the court rejected the claim on the merits, the decision concerns only procedural issues.

Updated Gas Directive brought under their rule not only the land but also the marine sections of pipelines in the EU. The new rules require, inter alia, that new and existing pipelines running from third countries into the EU in the territorial seas of the States of the Union should conform to such rules, as, for example, the division of activities associated with the extraction and transportation of gas ("unbundling"), third party access to the gas flow through the pipe.
