The CEC of the Chuvash Republic Sergey Matveev registered as the first candidate for the position of head of the Republic, reported on the website of election Commission of Irkutsk region.

The CEC of the Chuvash Republic has completed the reception of documents on elections of the head of the Republic on the evening of 24 July. Just about his participation in the election of heads of Chuvash Republic was notified of 12 people, but the necessary documents were provided, only five – the acting head of the Republic Oleg Nikolaev as a candidate, Sergei Matveev (the party "Patriots of Russia"), Nikolay Stepanov (Russian party of pensioners for social justice), Konstantin Stepanov (LDPR) and Alexander Andreev (CPRF).

"The twenty-eighth of July, the Central electoral Commission had adopted the decision on the registration of Sergei Matveyev candidate for the position of head of the Chuvash Republic", - stated in the message.

Also during the meeting, the Commission had taken the decision to refuse registration of six candidates for the position of head of the Republic Yuri Shakeeva, Nicholas Colacino, Andrew Ilemenova, Roman Vasilyev, Maxim Capelo, Peter Petrenko. "These candidates have not submitted required documents for registration are not collected signatures of voters and deputies of representative bodies of municipal formations", - stated in the message.

Earlier it was reported that the CEC of the Chuvash Republic has up to 10 days to determine the number of applicants for the post of head of the Republic, whose names will be included on the ballot.

Elections of the head of the Chuvash Republic will be held in a single voting day on 13 September 2020.
