In the Saratov region has declared an increase in the number of community-acquired pneumonia

The number of community-acquired pneumonia in the Saratov region this year has increased in 2,4 times in comparison with the same period of 2019, which is associated with the circulation of coronavirus infection, Minister of health of the region Oleg Kostin.

"Compared to the same period last year in region there was an increase in the incidence of community-acquired pneumonia in 2.4 times... In the region the epidemiological situation on the incidence of community-acquired pneumonia caused by the circulation of a new pathogen," said Kostin on Tuesday at session of coordination Council on combating COVID-19 in the field.

He noted that the number of cases of viral pneumonia in the region grew by 756 times. "This significant jump (occurred) compared to the 2019 year, when outbreaks were not observed and there have been only two cases of viral pneumonia", - the Minister explained.

According to him, the region remains a burden on hospitals, which deployed from 2518 beds are occupied 1705, of which over 88% are occupied by patients with pneumonia whose treatment takes a long period. "Unfortunately, today a serious burden on hospitals persists," - said Kostin.

Only in the Saratov region 9111 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with coronavirus, died in 56 patients, recovered 5369.
