NASA announced the crew of the Crew Dragon for 2021
NASA has identified the following manned missions Crew Dragon to the International space station (ISS), which will go into orbit in the spring of 2021, said the us space Agency on Tuesday.
In the crew of the second commercial flight of the ship in orbit will include two NASA astronauts Shane Kimbro (the captain) and Megan MacArthur, and Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide and Frenchman Thomas Sands. It is planned that the crew will travel to the ISS in the spring of 2021, and will remain at the space station for about six months.
In NASA noted that the international crew of four will arrive at the station in addition to the three members of the crew, taken on Board a Russian spacecraft "Soyuz", the increase in crew will allow NASA to double the amount of scientific work on the ISS.
Crew Dragon belongs to the company and SpaceX is the first private manned spacecraft. He created a contract with NASA to deliver crew to the ISS. The first test flight of the Crew Dragon to the ISS in late may, the return of the ship with a crew of two people is planned on 2 August. After that, NASA and SpaceX will have to complete the process of certifying spacecraft for regular manned flights into orbit. The first regular flight Crew Dragon to ISS is planned for the end of September.
