Named the reason for the departure of Kuchma, the contact group on Donbass
The source of the newspaper "New time" in the Office of the President of Ukraine explained why the former head of state Leonid Kuchma came out of the trilateral contact group on conflict settlement in the Donbass.
According to the interlocutor of the edition, the cause of death was old age of the former President. Kuchma this year will be 82 years old.
Earlier it became known that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has accepted the resignation of Leonid Kuchma from the trilateral contact group.
In April 2014, Kiev launched a military operation against the breakaway LC and the DNI, which declared independence after a coup in Ukraine in February of the same year. According to the latest UN victims of the conflict were about 13 thousand people.
The settlement of the situation in the Donbas is predominantly discussed during the meetings of the contact group in Minsk, which for all time has adopted several documents regulating the steps to de-escalate.
Kuchma Kiev twice led a delegation to the contact group. The last agreed when it signed the document last week. The parties undertook to cease fire and to introduce additional measures to ensure the truce.
