Off the coast of Alaska earthquake with magnitude of 6.1

The earthquake of a magnitude of 6.1 occurred in the Pacific ocean off the coast of Alaska, according to the US Geological survey (USGS).

Aftershocks were recorded Tuesday at 08.03 UTC (11.03 GMT) 66 kilometres southwest of the small town of sand point, with a population of about a thousand people. The center was located at a depth of 41.3 kilometer.

On victims not reported. The threat of a tsunami has not been announced.

This is the second earthquake that occurred near sand point for the day. Earlier, us seismologists reported that on Monday at 19.34 in UTC time (22.34 MSK) 26 kilometers to the South of the city of sand point recorded an earthquake of magnitude 5.5.
