Putin congratulated Erdogan and the Turkish people a happy Eid
Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation congratulated Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people with the upcoming holiday of Eid al-Adha, press service of the Kremlin.
"Vladimir Putin congratulated the President of Turkey and the Turkish people with the upcoming holiday of Eid al-Adha", - stated in the message.
Eid al-Adha - feast of sacrifice, one of the most important in the Muslim calendar. Its celebration lasts three days, this year the beginning of the holiday falls on July 31.
These days a Muslim should sacrifice a sheep, cow or other domestic animal. And to kill an animal need strictly observing certain rules and accompanied by prayers. One third of the meat the Muslim has to give to the poor, a third to relatives and friends, the last third remains in the family. To eat the flesh of the sacrificial animal, it is desirable for three festive days.
