In Colombia, want to ban the export of live cattle by sea, media reported
A law banning the export of live cattle by sea introduced by the Congress of Colombia, reports Caracol Noticias TV channel.
"The draft law which aims to stop the export of live cattle ships, was submitted to Congress. The proposal to end this cruel and unnecessary practice," - said the media.
Colombia annually supplies abroad about 100 thousand bulls, of which about 10 thousand die during transport, throw them in the sea.
The channel, citing animal advocates reported that the ships try to put as many cattle, followed by no proper care during the trip, which may last a month, and therefore they perish from lack of food and water, being crushed by other animals.
At the same time the Congress introduced a law, which proposes that animals have been recognized as subjects of rights in the Constitution.
