Moscow court refused to limit Turcan period of familiarization with the case

Lefortovo court of Moscow refused to limit a former member of the Board of "inter RAO" Karina Tsurkan in terms of familiarization with the case of espionage, told RIA Novosti in court.

A "request for determination of period for familiarization with the materials of the criminal case rejected," - said in court. Meeting on the case held behind closed doors in connection with his privacy.

Turcan was charged under article 276 of the criminal code (espionage), she faces a sentence up to 20 years in prison. The investigation was completed at the end of November last year.

Turcan was taken into custody in June 2018, after the next prolongation of term of arrest, the court of appeal on 16 January 2020 changed the measure of restraint, forbidding her only to chat with witnesses in the case. However, at large she spent a short time: by the public Prosecutor, the court of cassation on 7 February again sent her to the detention center, at the same time and returned the case to the court of appeals, which then left her in prison.

As told by lawyer Ivan Pavlov, Turcan accuse that in 2004, she became an agent of the Moldovan intelligence services. In April 2015 she received an electronic version of the "draft document of the energy Ministry on certain aspects of the actions of the Russian energy companies on the channel of international cooperation." At the end of September 2015, she allegedly gave the document to the secret service of Moldova. Turcan does not consider himself guilty.

The case marked marked "top secret". According to sources, RIA Novosti in the power industry, Turcan participated in the work on electricity supply from Russia to Ukraine and from Ukraine to Crimea in 2014-2015.
