Simonyan participated in the battles for the Northern Caucasus, Novorossiysk, participated in the Kerch-Eltigen and Crimean operations. He was awarded two medals "For courage" after the liberation of Novorossiysk and Sevastopol, the Order of the great Patriotic war I degree, also has the medals "For Victory over Germany", "Marshal Zhukov", "Marshal Baghramyan", "Admiral Isakov", "For labour valour" and others.
