Huge resources of Russia in the Arctic, the Northern sea route, the increased attention of foreign countries to this area of Russia, of course, require us to increase ship groups to ensure that the solution of the tasks of border security. We've been waiting for this day," - said at the ceremony, the head of the Border service of FSB of Russia Vladimir Kulishov.

The Governor of Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko told reporters that Vyborg shipyard is a major enterprise. "It is important for us that this is a new milestone in the development of the plant, which had previously specialized in icebreaking ships of the civil type, and here - the court for defense purposes, for the edge service... It is a good Foundation for stability for the entire city," said Drozdenko.

Kuleshov told reporters that komplektnost modern ships of the border service is 68%.

The ship will be built by the project of JSC "Almaz Central marine design Bureau by the order of FSB of the Russian Federation. It has high ice class, modern weapons and a high level of automation. The ship will carry a year-round service in the Arctic seas of Russia.

The estimated construction period is 4 years.

The ship will be part of the border authorities to solve their tasks in the Arctic and far Eastern regions.

Vyborg shipyard is one of the largest shipbuilding companies in Northwest Russia. The shipyard was founded in 1948. For 70 years they built more than 210 vessels, nine offshore platforms and 105 of modules of topsides for oil and gas development.

The main activity of the shipyard - building of civil vessels: ice-class ships, supply ships, icebreakers, fishing trawlers, as well as drilling platforms for offshore fields.
