Ukraine intends to create an international platform for the Crimea
Kiev intends to create an international consultation and coordination platform for the issue of Crimea, the government hopes to involve the UK, France, Germany and the United States, this was discussed at a meeting of the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Smagala with the high representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, which took place on Thursday in Brussels, said on Friday the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
On Wednesday, the Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine dzhaparova said that the strategy of "de-occupation" of the Crimea have already developed, but the document is not public.
"Denis Shmyhal added that among the key participants of the new platform Ukraine would like to see of the States-guarantors of Ukrainian security, in particular the US, the UK, France and Germany as key participants of the Normandy format, as well as regional partners", - stated in the message on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
In the words of Smagala, at the first stage it will be a consultative and coordinating the format, but in the future the Ukrainian authorities expect that this platform transformirovalsya in a negotiation venue. He expressed hope for support of this initiative by the EU and NATO.
Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russia. Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue "is closed permanently."
