Lavrov: Western countries try to interpret the international law

A number of Western countries are trying to "privatize" the secretariats of international organizations and promote outside the framework of UN new ideas of multilateralism, which do not coincide with the principle of multilateralism embedded in the Foundation Charter of this organization, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The Minister noted that there are increasing attempts to dissect international universal Convention in this way to undermine the basic principle of common consent, to impose, including by voting, some ideas, which are then issued for the opinion of the world community.

Therefore, according to Lavrov, Bozkır assumes the office of President of the General Assembly in a very responsible period. "We understand all the difficulties that are now facing the international situation, world order, and assure you that in Russia you will find the most reliable, consistent ally in upholding the original purposes and principles that underpin the UN," Lavrov said, referring to the Chairman of the jubilee session of the UNGA.

In June it became known that the Chairman of the 75-th session of the UN General Assembly, was elected member of Parliament of Turkey, Volkan Bozkır.

Week's high-level session of the UN General Assembly to be held in new York in September. The UN General Assembly voted for the decision, according to which the leaders and Ministers of state will be able to send their presentations in video format so that records could broadcast during the week of the highest level. As for Russia, the format of its participation in this session is not yet defined.
