Gryzlov: the decision of Parliament on local elections contradict the Minsk agreements
The Verkhovna Rada resolution on holding the local elections contradict the Minsk agreements, said the Russian presidential envoy in the contact group on Donbass Boris Gryzlov following the results of conference.
"The discussion of all other issues in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres, in environment where the highest legislative body of Ukraine adopted a decision excluding the settlement of the conflict based on the Minsk agreements, are devoid of meaning. We are talking about the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from July 15, to hold local elections in which the quality of elections in the Donbass, conditions that directly contradict the Minsk agreements", - he said.
The press service of the foreign Ministry of the breakaway Donetsk people's Republic reported on Wednesday that Kiev refused to explain its position on the local elections in the Donbass, thereby blocking further work of the contact group.
In turn, the representative of the LC in the political subgroup of the contact group Rodion Miroshnik said that Kiev should formally declare commitment to all provisions of the Minsk agreements. According to him, without understanding, that Kiev considers all provisions of the Minsk agreements binding, "it makes no sense to discuss the political, economic or humanitarian solution."
Earlier, the Parliament of Ukraine appointed on 25 October, the next local elections, they will not take place in uncontrolled Kiev territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. According to the adopted resolution, the elections in these territories will be able to take place, in particular after the withdrawal of all militias and the transfer of control over Ukrainian-Russian border.
