The defense Ministry explained the closure of the Russian radar station in Kazakhstan

Russia is economically unprofitable in Kazakhstan, a radar station "Balkhash", included in the System of missile warning, said the commander of the Space forces, Alexander Golovko in the Scenarios.

He recalled that the station was put on alert in 1964. About to him, now no longer produced the parts required for the maintenance of the station, so it was closed.

On the eve of the state Duma terminated the agreement with Kazakhstan on the transfer of the Balkhash radar station in the Russian system of missile warning. In the assemblies part of radar station "Dnipro", which is used in the Russian system of missile warning and space control.

As explained in the defense Ministry, the Balkhash site was not needed after the commissioning of four new radar stations in Russia. In particular, the node has replaced the station "Voronezh-M" under Orsk.
