The energy Ministry of Belarus told about cooperation with the IAEA

The safety of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is a priority, close cooperation with the IAEA goes with the beginning of the nuclear project, said the Director of the Department of nuclear energy Ministry of Belarus Vasily polyukhovich.

"The safety of nuclear plants is a priority for us. A system of supervision of the construction of a nuclear power station, which includes both departmental and public oversight," polyukhovich said during the online conference "Nuclear energy in Belarus: benefits and prospects".

"According to international experts, the project is implemented successfully and in accordance with international requirements and IAEA recommendations. With the Agency we work closely with the start of our nuclear project," he said.

The representative of the energy Ministry of Belarus said that "all are regularly recommended to the mission of the international Agency". "Experts of the international Agency for carry out at our request, expert assessment, and the last mission of the so-called INIR, which assessed our infrastructure, readiness to start nuclear power station, and all the experts confirmed a pretty good job of the Belarusian side on this issue," he said.

The NPP with two WWER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built in Ostrovets (Grodno oblast). For the country's first nuclear power plant in the Russian project generation 3 , which fully meets international norms and IAEA recommendations on safety. Start the reactor plant of power unit No. 1 of the Belarusian NPP is scheduled for August of this year, the issuance of a unit of electricity to the network in September-October. The commissioning of the second unit is scheduled for 2021.
