Official notice court of the Greek authorities on sentencing two Russians on charges of smuggling migrants to the Russian Embassy in Athens reported, according to RIA Novosti in the Embassy.
According to human rights organizations, the Russian sailors Konstantin Semenov and Ivan Vosmikova in Greece sentenced to 253 years in prison each for transporting illegal migrants.
"Russian citizens Konstantin Semenov and Ivan Vosmikova was arrested in Greece in the summer of 2019. They were accused of smuggling migrants. In anticipation of trial they were in the Athens prison of Korydallos", - reported in the Russian Embassy.
"Consular staff have visited (them), gave them lists of law firms, information about the normative database for possible transfer to Russia to serve his sentence there, designed the required documents, provided other assistance, monitored the conditions of detention, had any contact with the prison, maintained close contact with the family of one of the detainees," the Embassy said.
That court is completed and the decision was made, the Greek authorities announced.
"Official notification to the judiciary on completion of the process and the conviction of the Embassy to date had not received", - have informed in diplomatic representative office.
Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Greece reported that Greek jails 26 Russians accused or convicted of illegal transportation of migrants by sea from Turkey. It called for Russian sailors to be careful when looking for work abroad not to be drawn into illegal activity.
The Greek courts sentenced for the illegal transportation of migrants for hundreds of years in prison. So, in January of this year, two Russian sailors were sentenced for 395 years for transportation of illegal immigrants and was sentenced to a fine of 6 million Euro for illegal transportation of migrants.
