Multipurpose nuclear submarines (NPS) "Voronezh" and "Vladivostok" will join the combat strength of the Navy fleet in seven or eight years, reported RIA Novosti head of the United shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexey Rakhmanov.

Their tab under project 885M ("Ash-M") was held yesterday at the shipyard "Sevmash" (Severodvinsk). Director General of the complex Mikhail Budnichenko told that they will be armed with hypersonic weapons.

"Build boats, we are planning for 6.5 years, meaning the fleet will get them at the turn of the 2027-2028 years," — said Rakhmanov.

Now on the stocks "Sevmash" in various degrees of construction there are six nuclear submarine project "Ash", but the armament of the submarines of this project, a hypersonic weapon was mentioned officially for the first time.

Hypersonic missile "Zircon" will have a speed of Mach nine (nine times the speed of sound) and range over thousands of kilometers. According to the plan, the weapons complex will be adopted in the years 2020-21. In addition to the shipping version, President Vladimir Putin mentioned the development of "Zircon" land-based.
