Foster act of the first serial frigate was signed on 15 July. The ship was supposed to join the Navy in 2019, but his transfer to the fleet have been postponed. In particular, at the end of last year his trial was delayed because of the storm in the Barents sea. One of the reasons the ceremony was scheduled for 21 July, was that this day marks 110 years since the birth of the Navy Admiral Vladimir Kasatonov, in whose honor was named the ship.
Frigate "Admiral Kasatonov" project 22350 was designed by Northern design Bureau and built at the shipyard "Severnaya Verf" in St. Petersburg. The ship was laid down on 26 November 2009. According to announced plans, it should have been transferred to the Navy in 2012.
The first rank frigates of project 22350 are multipurpose warships that can effectively deal with surface, air and underwater enemy, and to strike at surface and shore targets at a distance of over 1.5 thousand kilometers.
Head frigate of the project 22350 "Admiral Gorshkov" is used in the composition of the Navy of Russia. In may was launched the third such ship "Admiral Golovko". Also at various stages of construction are five more frigates – "Admiral Isakov", "Admiral amelko", "Admiral Chichagov" and two laid down on 20 July 2020 frigate with improved characteristics. Two new ship was named "Admiral Yumashev" and "Admiral Spiridonov". They differ from the first six increased ammunition and anti-submarine missiles, including hypersonic.
