The search for the missing in Buryatia, An-2 expanding, but so far in vain

Aviation and ground troops in the search for the missing in the Buryatia Republic of the Antonov An-2 surveyed more than 2 thousand square kilometers of territory - so far in vain, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday the representative of the emergency services in the region.

This is comparable to the area of the smallest regions of the Russian Federation, such as Moscow city (about 2.5 thousand square kilometers) and St. Petersburg (1.4 thousand).

"During the day of aviation and ground groupings surveyed more than 2 thousand square kilometers. Search gave no results", - said the Agency interlocutor.

The search area continues to expand, reported RIA Novosti the representative of the Siberian aviation search and rescue center.

In the regional head office of the Ministry of emergency situations Agency said that the operation involved an-2 aircraft and Mi-8 helicopter. According to authorities the aircraft after refueling went on the second day of the flight.

"Kukuruznik" An-2 airline "the Phoenix" went missing on the evening of 19 July, on Board were six people. The plane flew Tunka and Oka regions of Buryatia, to map out the territory of the chemical treatment of forests from the silkworm.
