Saakashvili said the threat to "lose" Ukraine
The head of the Ukrainian Executive Committee of the national Council reform Mikheil Saakashvili believes that Ukraine may cease to exist in its current form because of the actions of the local authorities.
"Preparing for the big rematch of the forces that "the Servant (of the people - ed.)" was moved from the Central government last year", - Saakashvili said on air of TV channel "Ukraine is 24".
According to him, local officials are creating in the regions of the "private armies" that are financed from the state budget.
"The situation which gave local lords the whole budget, they are there with fat rage. In addition that will steal 80%, the rest create a private army. Here in Odessa has a municipal guard, just the usual thugs, "titushki", who go in uniform and with weapons, and are financed from the budget. Some of them are preparing to breakaway from Ukraine, there is no doubt. Ukraine in this form we can lose if something is not drastically done. And the other part is ready to gain revenge in Kyiv," the politician said.
Ex-President Saakashvili left Georgia in 2013, where he opened a number of criminal cases, some of them he was sentenced in absentia to prison terms. In the spring of 2015 Saakashvili came to Ukrainian politics, when held the post of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appointed him Governor of Odessa region, before granting citizenship. However, in November 2016 Poroshenko has dismissed Saakashvili, saying that he not only fulfilled promises to develop the region, but also greatly worsened its economic performance. At the end of July 2017, Poroshenko deprived Saakashvili Ukrainian citizenship. Later, Saakashvili has filed a complaint against this decision of the Ukrainian court, it is still not considered.
The government of Ukraine in February 2018 has sent Saakashvili to Poland, from which he in autumn 2017 illegally came to Ukraine broke through the cordons of border guards and law enforcement officers. Ukraine's new President Vladimir Zelensky on may 28, 2019, a decree was returned Saakashvili Ukrainian citizenship, then the policy returned to the Ukraine.
