In Nantes arrested a suspect after a fire in the Cathedral

French police have detained one person in the investigation of the case of the fire in the Cathedral of saints Peter and Paul in Nantes, reports channel BFMTV.

According to the TV channel, we are talking about 39-year-old man, a migrant, who worked as a volunteer in the Cathedral and had to close the door the day of the fire.

The Prosecutor's office told the TV station that at this stage we are talking only about validation. Investigators took the man into custody to check out the "contradictions in its schedule".

The fire occurred on Saturday morning. The fire was completely destroyed, in particular, a large body of the Cathedral. The Prosecutor's office of Nantes announced the launch of the investigation on suspicion of intentional arson of the Cathedral. Subsequently, the fire brigade spokesman of the Department of the Loire-Atlantique Colonel Jerome Langlois reported that the fire in the Cathedral of Nantes extinguished, there is no risk of collapse or it is minimal, but firefighters will remain on the place and night.
