In Ugra, the total area of forest fires has exceeded 20 thousand hectares

The total area of forest fires in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous district exceeded 20 thousand hectares, said on Friday the regional Department of subsoil use and natural resources.

The Department clarifies that a day in Ugra was six natural fires on the area of 2.4 thousand hectares, and in total, there were 25 forest fires with a total area of 14 thousand hectares.

For comparison, in 2019 at this date the total area of natural fires in Ugra was 11 times less.

According to the Department, 90% of fires occurred due to lightning, in the rest of the fires brought the human factor, in particular, a violation of people rules of safety.

On Tuesday, the Governor of the region Natalia Komarova has entered a state of emergency in the forests of the Autonomous region, two days later to assess the situation in Ugra arrived the Minister of emergency situations Evgeny Senichev and the Minister of natural resources and ecology of the Russian Federation Dmitry Kobylkin. So, the head of Ministry noted that the situation in Yugra "difficult but manageable". In turn, Senichev urged tougher to treat the violators of the fire safety requirements.
