A group of congressmen to support sanctions against the "Nord stream-2" and the second line of the "Turkish stream", which threatened to impose a state Department.
The letter, published on the website of the international Affairs Committee of the house of representatives, was signed by 9 members of Congress, including two Democrats, the rest Republicans.
"We welcome the decision of the state Department to warn companies involved in the "Nord stream-2" and the second line of the "Turkish stream". Any company which supports the efforts of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin to use Russian energy resources as a weapon and enrichment of his regime should face the consequences," - said in a statement.
Russia rejects charges of the USA to use energy supplies to exert pressure on other countries.
The congressmen urged the administration to support the bill on additional sanctions.
"Although this is a very positive step, it does not preclude the need for sanctions, ordered by Congress last year regarding the courts-plotters, which are necessary to complete the construction of Russian pipelines. It also does not negate the need for extended sanctions, the call for which is contained in the proposed bill on the protection of European energy security," the statement said.
