MP from the "Servants of the people" answered the call "to a duel" in the Russian language

The author of the bill on the restoration of learning Russian in Ukrainian schools, the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Pro-presidential faction "servant of the people" Maxim Buzhansky in response to the invitation to "duel" with a co-Chairperson of the faction of "European solidarity" ex-President Petro Poroshenko Irina Gerashchenko, suggesting her to write an essay.

Earlier on Thursday Gerashchenko said that called "the duel" Bogunskogo, who has previously drafted a bill to abolish the mandatory study 80% of subjects in Ukrainian schools and state language.

"Friends, very respected people tell me that dictation is the fourth class. And if Irina Gerashchenko wants me to do something to compete, I choose writing. I hope it's not too intellectual for you, Irina? You can handle it? Can together with (former speaker of Parliament, Deputy Andrew – ed.) Paruby, if it is difficult," wrote Buzhansky in the Telegram on Thursday.

The bill provides for amendments to the laws on language and on education and transfers from 2020 to 2023, the transition of Russian for 5-11 classes on teaching in the Ukrainian language. The author of the bill is a member of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada concerning law enforcement and a Deputy of the "servant of the people" Maxim Buzhansky. The Verkhovna Rada Committee on issues of human and information policy recommended to reject the bill. Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov earlier reported that the Ukrainian Parliament on Friday will consider this document.

In may 2019 the then President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law "On ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as the state language", which provides for the exclusive use of the Ukrainian language in almost all spheres of life. Prior to the adoption of the law on TV and radio stations operated quota at 50% of the use of the Ukrainian language, now the quota rose to the level of 90%.
