In Belarus for unauthorized actions detained more than 250 people
More than 250 people were arrested across Belarus on Tuesday during an unsanctioned mass actions for violations of public order, said on Wednesday the press service of the interior Ministry.
On Tuesday evening in different cities of Belarus held an unauthorized mass protest. Their participants were citizens who do not agree with the decision of the Central election Commission of Belarus to refuse registration of candidates for President, the two politicians – Victor Babariko and Valery Tsepkalo. Human rights activists reported mass arrests by police officers, mainly in Minsk – more than 190 people. The Belarusian Association of journalists also said the detentions in various cities of the 14 correspondents of local and foreign media, most of them were released without drawing up administrative protocols.
"Violations of public order recorded yesterday in several localities of the country arrested more than 250 people, including drivers and cyclists for disobeying a lawful order or request of an official in the performance of official duties, violation of order of organizing or holding mass events, as well as violation of traffic rules. Most of the violations recorded in Minsk", - said the press service of the Telegram.
As noted in the Department, some of the detainees after drawing up administrative protocols and conduct preventive conversations released, the individual person is installed in IVS. In Vitebsk there were no arrests.
"The actions of police, especially Riot police and traffic police, differed coherence and clarity. Despite the aggression of individuals, they showed restraint and professionalism", - said the interior Ministry.
The Department urged citizens not to succumb to provocations in social networks, where lately "actively posted messages and videos discrediting the law enforcement agencies". The interior Ministry also drew attention that the suppression of public disorder – it's not right, but the duty of employees of bodies of internal Affairs, and to interfere in the activities of representatives of state bodies, ensuring public order during the events, illegally. "To participate or not to participate in mass action, any action is the right of a citizen. But in the case of participation in an unauthorized mass event any person can be brought to responsibility established by law," - said the interior Ministry.
In turn, the unregistered human rights center "Viasna" reported that on Tuesday, while not sanctioned by the authorities of the protests in different cities of Belarus have detained about 300 people. "The overall figure of detained on Belarus – at least 286 people", - stated in the message of defenders in telegram-channel center.
In Belarus, the campaign for the presidential election, primary election day scheduled for 9 August. Incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko is running for a sixth term. Passing the campaign was accompanied by arrests of supporters of candidates for President, alternative Lukashenko, as well as natural unauthorized protests.
