The expert commented on the decree trump against China
The signing by US President Donald trump law on bringing China to account for its actions in respect of Hong Kong will not affect Beijing's policy, China will go to the end in defending their national interests, the head of the Expert Council of the Russian-Chinese Committee of friendship, peace and development, Yuri Tavrovsky.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald trump said that he had signed the law and the presidential decree on bringing China to account for its actions in respect of Hong Kong. The law "About the autonomy of Hong Kong" was adopted first by the house of representatives, and in early July by the U.S. Senate and sent to the President for signature. The document envisages the introduction of sanctions against foreign individuals and companies implicated in violation of the British-Chinese Declaration of 1984 and the basic law of the PRC, which determines the position of Hong Kong as a special administrative region of China. Trump also signed a decree abolishing economic preferences for Hong Kong.
As noted Tavrovsky, US policy in respect of Hong Kong is an integral part of the cold war, waged against China for two years, and signed with trump the law - just a new "combat" action.
According to the expert, the signing of the trump law on bringing China to account for its actions in respect of Hong Kong will not affect the policy of China. Tavrovsky said that Beijing at the end of session of vsekitajsky meeting of national representatives (Parliament) has formulated a number of positions. In particular, as the expert said, had formulated the position of China in the field of Economics, according to which Beijing is to prepare for a prolonged economic confrontation with the United States.
In the political field, as noted by the interlocutor of the Agency, China's position is the approval by Parliament of the law on the protection of national security of Hong Kong. In addition Tavrovsky said that the President of China and concurrently the commander of the people's liberation army, XI Jinping met during the session of the NPC with the PLA soldiers and urged them to prepare for the worst scenario, to strengthen the combat readiness to protect national interests.
"It was an unprecedented statement. Taken together, these decisions announced at the third session (NPC), saying that the Chinese leadership, the Chinese elite are disillusioned about the possibility to negotiate with the Americans, to pay off the Americans. China will go to the end in defending their national interests", - the expert added.
While Tavrovsky believes, of course, China can be quite considerable economic and image consequences of the signing of the law by trump, but Beijing made the decision to go forward, to fight back during the cold war. However, according to experts, Beijing in addition to retaliatory sanctions may carry some information, to prohibit the entry of American carriers in Hong Kong to take 'mirror' measures against U.S. business in Hong Kong.
"If trade with China, America has a huge deficit in trade with Hong Kong as a separate customs territory in America opposite a pretty significant advantage (the surplus - ed.). The Chinese can make it so that this advantage will be reduced," he added.
The Chinese foreign Ministry said that China is willing to oppose foreign interference in the Affairs of Hong Kong, any attempt by the USA to prevent the implementation of the law on national security doomed to failure. The Chinese side urged the U.S. to "correct its mistakes and to not enact so-called law "About the autonomy of Hong Kong", to stop any interference in China's internal Affairs, including the Affairs of Hong Kong." In Beijing said that if Washington is going to stand his ground, then China will definitely give a decisive answer. In particular, as emphasized in the Ministry of foreign Affairs of China, Beijing denounces adoption of U.S. law "On the autonomy of Hong Kong" and intends to impose sanctions in respect of the relevant American citizens and organizations.
The law on the protection of national security of Hong Kong, approved by the Parliament of China, entered into force on 30 June. The law designated the regulations for the prevention, suppression and punishment of the four types of crimes committed in Hong Kong, including separatist activities, attempts of Subversion of state power, terrorist activities, conspiracy with foreign States, or abroad, with the aim to compromise national security. The law caused discontent of anti-government forces in Hong Kong and some Western officials who see it as a desire by Beijing to tighten control over the autonomy. Beijing has repeatedly stated that the question of Hong Kong is the internal affair of China.
