The expert believes that Egypt began preparations for a military operation

The scale of military exercises of the armed forces of Egypt and practicing landing in the framework of the exercise indicate that Cairo is preparing for a military operation, said the RIA Novosti news Agency the military expert, the Egyptian General Mahfouz marzouk.

The ruling in Eastern Libya Parliament - House of representatives – in the night of Tuesday allowed the Egyptian armed forces to intervene in the Libyan conflict. The statement said that the Egyptian armed forces have the right to intervene to protect the Libyan and Egyptian national security, if they see imminent threat to the security of the two countries.

Commenting on the statement by the Libyan Parliament, the expert said there are three important points that determine the actions of Egypt.

First, it reminded marzouk, in late June, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that his country is ready to help the Libyan tribes in the fight against foreign intervention, training and arming them. The President also said that any direct interference of Egypt in Libya now has the legitimacy under international law. According to him, the "red line" for the advance of troops is the city of Sirte, located about 900 kilometers from the border with Egypt, and the province Dzhufra.

"Secondly, if the decision is made, it will be political justification for the intervention of the armed forces of Egypt in Libya," said marzouk.

"The nature of the military exercises of the armed forces of Egypt, their scale... and the weapons indicate that Egypt began strategic preparations for the main military operation," - said the expert.

"And another important point: the military exercises of the Navy of Egypt practiced the landing. The landing can be used as part of the defense, at the same time, it can be used in offensive operations to move troops to a great distance and landing them on the beaches held by enemy forces. Thus, the landing can be offensive in the depth of enemy territory," said marzouk.

Egypt last week was spent at the border with Libya-site large-scale military exercises, codenamed "Commitment 2020", in which participated all kind of the Egyptian armed forces.

According to Marzouq, to understand the reaction of Egypt needs to address these three facts, are "signals". He noted that the actual situation may change, and it is possible that the decision to invade is made.
