Svetlana Tikhanovski, which the Central election Commission of Belarus has registered the candidate on a post of the President of the Republic, scarcely has the chances of electoral success and can not become a center of consolidation of the opposition in the presidential race, told RIA Novosti assistant Professor of political theory at MGIMO (U) mid of Russia, RIAC expert Kirill Koktysh.

Tikhanovski, the wife of the Belarusian popular videoblogger Sergei Tikhanovski, who is currently in custody in criminal cases. He previously tikhanovski planned to participate in presidential elections, but was unable to register the initiative group to collect signatures in support of nomination of a candidate, then the decision to stand for election was received by the wife.

"In the absence of funding, without the resources the campaign is unlikely to have chances of success, especially in this campaign was, rather, to undermine the situation, not to win. In this regard Tikhanovski, in itself, is unlikely to represent any threat (to Lukashenko – ed.) and is unlikely to become a center of consolidation (the opposition – ed.)", - said Koktysh.

"In the context that he sits tikhanovski and charged, and its campaign was waged without rules, often below the belt, I think that in this situation, the campaign itself Tikhanovski will be rather slow and is unlikely to go in the same spirit as before the arrest Tikhanovski," - he said.
