CSTO urged Baku and Yerevan for an immediate ceasefire on the border
The organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO) expressed serious concern due to the deterioration on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan and calls for an immediate ceasefire, said in comments of the CSTO Secretariat provided by RIA Novosti press-Secretary of the organization Vladimir Zainetdinov.
"The CSTO Secretariat have expressed serious concern at the aggravation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, arose on 12 July after the armed clashes of units of the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan, including with heavy weapons, which have killed and wounded", - said in a statement.
"The current situation is not conducive to the normalization of the situation on the border of two neighboring States, one of which is the Republic of Armenia is a member state of the CSTO, and the evidence of the violation of agreements on cease-fire reached at the level of the leadership of Armenia and Azerbaijan", - said the CSTO.
In the military-political bloc calls on the parties "for the immediate restoration of the ceasefire in the zone of CSTO responsibility". "We Express our condolences to the families of the victims and wish the wounded a speedy recovery," - said the CSTO.
This organization has noticed that the collective security Council, the Council of foreign Ministers of the CSTO in their statements have repeatedly urged the parties to seek to resolve conflicts peacefully and to refrain from provocative actions to prevent escalation of tension.
On Sunday, the clash happened on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan - Tovuz district, bordering on Georgia, and Tavush Marzes, respectively - within a few hundred kilometers from the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh, where the situation was calm.
