Turkey rejected the EU criticism of his actions off the coast of Cyprus
Turkey insists on fair distribution of natural resources of Cyprus between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, said the press Secretary of the Turkish foreign Ministry Hami Aksoy in response to the statement by the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell.
As previously reported by Borrell, the foreign Ministers of the European Union meeting in Brussels on Monday instructed to study possible measures in response to Turkey's actions in the Eastern Mediterranean, in particular, drilling in the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus.
According to him, the tension in the Eastern Mediterranean may only be terminated in the adoption of this approach by all parties.
The government of the Republic of Cyprus declares on the continuing violation by Turkey of sovereign rights of Cyprus. In particular, Ankara is currently drilling in the Maritime zones of Cyprus and conducts seismic surveys in the exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf of Cyprus in violation of his sovereign rights. The EU has repeatedly condemned these actions. Turkey says it will not stop exploration and drilling offshore Cyprus. The EU has imposed individual sanctions against individuals and companies involved in the drilling, which include the freezing of assets and travel ban in the countries of the Union.
