Assad has released from duties of imported raw materials for production of medicines

Syrian President Bashar Assad issued a decree exempting from customs duties and all types of taxation of imported raw materials required for the production of medicines, the press service of the presidential Palace.

"President Assad has issued decree number 14 of the year 2020, associated with the release of the first materials necessary for the production of drugs from customs duties and from all taxes and payments connected with import", - the press-service.

According to the decree of the President of Syria, the new rules will be in effect throughout the year, starting in August.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister of health of the Syrian Ahmad Lafave in an interview with RIA Novosti said that unilateral US sanctions in the framework of the law "Caesar" increased pressure on the health sector of Syria, they prevent the import of medicines and medical equipment. In particular, according to Lafave, because of the sanctions pharmaceutical companies from several Western countries refuse to supply to Syria of medicines for people with cancer.
